Wigtownshire Stuff was established in 2018 by local families and individuals and is overseen by a Board of Trustees. In 2021, Wigtownshire Stuff became a SCIO and in 2023 and it merged with Stewartry Action Support (SAS) and became Wigtownshire and Stewartry Partnership (WaSP).

We are a grassroots/community-based organisation with a primary purpose of developing real opportunities with and for younger adults with additional support needs across the area. Our core ethos is about creating space, conversations and confidence with people with additional support needs to come up with ideas for activities and projects etc… and then working alongside them to put their ideas into practice.

Everything we do is about focusing on what people can do, their skills, their assets, and their interests and with the right support from their families, their community, and others, what they can achieve.

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Project Development Officer to work alongside the Project Development Officer ensuring we as an organisation move forward confidently and professionally whilst delivering projects alongside our members.

Assistant Project Development Officer post duties:
22 hours per week
£13.5 per hour

Appointment for one year (potential to be permanent pending review and further funding)
Days/times of work are flexible with the agreement of the Development Officer. Evening/weekend work will be required at times.

The Assistant Development Officer will have joint responsibility for making sure that all necessary tasks are completed to ensure the smooth running of all agreed projects and activities. The emphasis would be on day to day operations of current projects and activities; and supporting paid project staff and volunteers.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the charity’s existing projects.
Ensure members of the charity are front and centre of all activities and developments.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the charity’s existing projects.
Ensure all administrative tasks in relation to staff are completed e.g.wages, expenses, pensions, annual leave approvals PVG’s etc…
Provide updates and information for reports regarding projects as required for the Development Officer, the Board and funders etc…
Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensure expenditure relating to activities is recorded and cash including petty cash and any funds raised are handled responsibly. Make sure invoices are paid on time.
Develop systems and paperwork to support the running of the projects.
Make sure all relevant insurances are in place.
Make sure all relevant risk assessments are completed.
Assist with the establishment of new projects and take on the day-to-day oversight of new projects.
Develop and maintain the membership scheme.
Manage the charity’s day to day social media presence.
Any other duties as required.

We are looking for people with the following skills and/or experience:
Working in the third sector,
Passion for our charity’s mission,
Community development and capacity-building,
Group facilitation,
Working in enabling ways with people with various additional support needs and their families/ carers,
Problem solving with a ‘can do’ approach,
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
Workload management and ability to prioritise tasks, and handle multiple projects.
Strong skills in MS Office suite (especially Excel/PowerPoint).
